Helena Alexander (vocals) - Born and raised in Sarajevo, a city that captured all the 'sevdah' from Sevdalinkas on the crossroads between east and west, she is the Balkan soul music - Sevdah artist. When she was a child, her father used to take her to live Bosnian sevdah music performances of two greatest female Romany singers - Ljiljana Petrovic-Buttler and Vida Pavlovic. Impressed as a child, by the connection of Sevdah and Romany music Ljila and Vida mastered, Helena has dedicated herself to seeking out and interpreting Sevdalinka and traditional Balkan Romany music. She has performed with Galbeno Band at several Romany festivals, most notably, International Roma Day and Herdeljezi Festival in California. This summer she has trained and performed with the master Romany accordionist, Pilos Petrovic, as well as Stasa Stanojevic (Boban Markovic Brass Band) at Amala School in Valjevo, Serbia.
